We welcome applications and nominations from everyone, including people who are underrepresented in our leadership roles including people from Black, Asian and/or minority ethnic backgrounds and women, as well as people with lived experience of supporting less affluent young people and communities.

We are actively looking for people to take on roles in the following areas:
Trustees:
Volunteer Team Leaders:
- Volunteer Development Team Leader – Support, train and inspire volunteers across South Ribble, helping them gain confidence and skills while providing the best experiences for young people.
- Grants and Fundraising Team Leader – Help raise funds to unlock more opportunities and adventures for young people, supporting South Ribble Scouts to continue growing and thriving.
Volunteer Team Members:
- Squirrel Team Member – Support our youngest members (aged 4–5) with fun, safe activities that build confidence, curiosity and social skills. Opportunities available across South Ribble.
- Beaver Team Member – Work with 6–8 year olds to deliver activities that develop teamwork, skills and confidence in a safe, welcoming environment.
- Cub Team Member – Help 8–10½ year olds learn new skills, work as a team, and take part in a range of fun activities and challenges.
- Scout Team Member – Support 10½–14 year olds in gaining independence, developing leadership, and exploring new experiences.
- Programme Team Members – Are you passionate about creating meaningful experiences for young people? Join our District Programme Team to help plan and deliver high-quality activities across South Ribble that build confidence, teamwork, and Skills for Life. Work as part of a friendly volunteer team to inspire, engage, and make a real difference. No outdoor or adventure experience required.
- District Secretary – Help keep South Ribble Scouts organised and connected by managing communications, records, and administrative tasks. This is a flexible, remote/hybrid volunteering role suitable for anyone who enjoys supporting teams and helping young people thrive.
- District Media & Communications Team – Join us if you have skills in digital or communications. Help shape how South Ribble Scouts looks from the outside and how our teams share information internally.
Not spotted a role that feels like your thing? That’s no problem – we can shape your volunteering adventure together, whether you want to share skills you already have or discover brand new ones while supporting young people.
All our volunteering roles are flexible and inclusive. You don’t need to be into the outdoors or adventurous activities — there’s a role for everyone who wants to make a difference.
