Mia – District Youth Commissioner: Shaped by young people 18-25 Group Committees update

Date: 11th Aug 2020 Author: Jon Nutten

As our District Youth Commissioner, I just would like to remind you of the exciting opportunity of joining your group’s executive committee. If you are looking for a career in business, finance, HR, strategic planning, governance, or charity then this opportunity will ensure you are better prepared for your career and you gain invaluable skills from this opportunity.

We are looking for people aged 18-25 to join your group’s Executive Committee. This will ensure that your group and our district as a whole remains relevant and shaped by young people.

As well as bringing new ideas and a fresh perspective, you will gain a huge amount of skills and experience that you wouldn’t otherwise have the chance to gain. You will have the opportunity to get involved in finance, strategy, human resources, and decisions that will shape the future of Scouting in your group.

Ensuring the voices of young people influence each of these processes is vital to ensure that the decisions we make stay true to our needs and priorities.

Not only is a trusteeship an exciting opportunity that will make your CV stand out, but you will also use existing skills and acquire some new skills too! The role works in two ways as it will equip you with new understanding and you will use your existing knowledge.

If you would like to become part of your group’s executive committee please get in touch with your GSL or me and we will be able organise this for you. We are looking forward to bringing more young people on board and supporting them to gain professional experience.

If you have any questions, please feel free to reach out to Mia – District Youth Commissioner
