Celebrating Success: South Ribble Scout Network Shines in 2024

Date: 10th Jan 2025 Author: Jon Nutten

At South Ribble Scouts, our Scout Network (18-25 year olds) has had an incredible year in 2024 — packed with achievement, adventure, and unforgettable memories.

We’re proud to share that South Ribble led the way in West Lancashire Scouts by achieving the most Top Awards in 2024 — a brilliant reflection of the dedication, passion, and hard work of our young adults.

Celebrating Our Top Award Achievements

In 2024, our Scout Network members reached some amazing milestones:

  • 16 King’s Scout Awards earned — the highest honour in Scouting, recognising exceptional commitment, leadership, and skill development
  • 10 Duke of Edinburgh’s Gold Awards completed — demonstrating endurance, community service, and adventurous spirit
  • 4 Explorer Belts awarded — celebrating international expedition challenges, self-reliance, and cultural awareness

These aren’t just numbers — they represent the countless hours of effort, teamwork, and determination from our young people, balancing Scouting alongside study, work, and life.

What Does It Take to Earn These Awards?

  • King’s Scout Award: This prestigious award requires completing a challenging programme of community service, skill-building, leadership, and adventurous activities. It pushes you to grow into a confident leader ready to make a real difference. Learn more about the King’s Scout Award here.
  • Duke of Edinburgh’s Gold Award: This award demands dedication to voluntary service, learning new skills, improving fitness, and completing a residential expedition. It builds independence, resilience, and a spirit of adventure. Find out more at DofE Gold.
  • Explorer Belt: This internationally recognised award involves planning and completing a demanding expedition, often abroad. It requires teamwork, adaptability, and cultural engagement. Discover the Explorer Belt here.

Achieving these awards is no small feat — and our South Ribble Scout Network members have shown exceptional ambition and perseverance.

More Than Just Awards — Building Friendship, Confidence & Adventure

While the awards are fantastic achievements, the journey is what truly matters. Our Scout Network is a place where you can build lifelong friendships, develop confidence, and create memories through shared challenges and adventures.

It’s a community where you grow together, face challenges head-on, and prepare yourself for whatever comes next — all while having a great time.

Looking Ahead to 2025

With such a strong foundation, we’re excited about what 2025 holds for the South Ribble Scout Network. New challenges, new friendships, and new adventures lie ahead — and we can’t wait to see more of our young adults reach their full potential.
