Andrew “Stig” Taylor appointed as new Programme Team Leader

Date: 20th Oct 2025 Author: Jon Nutten

We’re excited to share that Andrew “Stig” Taylor has been appointed as the new Programme Team Leader for South Ribble Scouts — bringing with him a lifetime of Scouting experience, passion for adventure, and a deep commitment to helping young people gain Skills for Life.

Stig’s Scouting story is nothing short of incredible. He first joined Cubs back in 1974 and has volunteered in Scouting for nearly five decades. Over the years, he’s worn more neckers than most — from Cub, Scout and Venture Scout to multiple leadership roles, including Scout Leader, District Scout Leader, Assistant District Commissioner for Scouts and more.

He’s also been a crew member at Waddecar Scout Activity Centre since 1985, part of the County Water Sports Team since 1990, a Training Adviser for 17 years, and a Scout Adventures team member since 2011. Stig has been instrumental in supporting District and County projects including membership system go-lives, training, and appointments — playing a huge part behind the scenes as well as on the water, on camp, and around the campfire.

As Programme Team Leader, Stig will work with leaders and volunteers across South Ribble to shape and support an inspiring, adventurous programme for young people aged 4–24. His experience, energy, and passion for outdoor adventure will be a huge asset as we continue to grow and strengthen Scouting across the district.

Stuart Robinson, District Lead Volunteer said: “Stig has dedicated so much of his life to supporting young people and volunteers across South Ribble and beyond. His knowledge, energy and commitment to adventure make him the perfect person to lead our Programme Team. I know he’ll help shape even more amazing opportunities for our members,”

We’re thrilled to welcome Stig into this new role and can’t wait to see the difference he’ll make leading the Programme Team.

In his new role, Stig will focus on:

  • Providing resources and guidance to volunteers, empowering them to deliver dynamic and impactful programmes.
  • Shaping our Programme Strategy to inspire young people to become bold global citizens and actively contribute to shaping a better world.
  • Championing inclusivity and ensuring Scouting is accessible and welcoming to all.
  • Fostering collaboration across local teams to share innovative ideas and best practices.

Looking Ahead

With Stig at the helm, we’re confident that our programme provision will continue to grow and thrive. His leadership will help ensure young people gain valuable experiences while enabling volunteers to feel supported and inspired.

Join Us in Welcoming Stig

Please join us in congratulating Stig on his new role! We’re excited to have him on board and look forward to the positive changes he will bring to our Programme Team.
