Every Scout Group needs a leader – be our Group Lead Volunteer

Our group lead volunteers coordinates the work of our group leadership teams to ensure the effective operation of our Scout Groups.

They ensure help to make sure that our groups are well run, has enough leaders and supporters in each of our section leadership teams and that they have all the things they need to provide an exciting weekly programme to their young people. Every Scout Group needs a great leader to help things run smoothly—and that’s where you come in!

We’re looking for Group Lead Volunteers to support our fantastic teams across South Ribble. This flexible and rewarding role is all about coordinating volunteers, making sure groups have everything they need, and ensuring young people get the best possible Scouting experience.

What does a Group Lead Volunteer do?

As a Group Lead, you’ll:
✅ Support leaders & volunteers – making sure our sections have enough adult volunteers to run exciting programmes.
✅ Work with Group Chairs & Trustees – helping ensure the group is well-managed and thriving.
✅ Encourage new volunteers – so we always have enough support in place.
✅ Help shape local Scouting – without needing to run weekly meetings (unless you’d like to!).

This is an ideal role for someone who enjoys organising, problem-solving, and working with adults. You don’t need any previous Scouting experience—just a willingness to help and a passion for supporting others.
