Olly, Jack, Ben, Thomas and Nathaniel will join up with the rest of the West Lancashire Scouts Jamboree Unit and are among thousands of young people from across the UK chosen to be part of the UK Contingent. They will join around 50,000 Scouts from across the world for one of the largest youth events on the planet, a celebration of adventure, culture, and international friendship.

The group represents Scout groups from across South Ribble, highlighting the strength and impact of Scouting in the local community.

Following a highly competitive and engaging selection process, including applications, interviews, and team challenges, the successful Scouts demonstrated not only practical skills, but also courage, teamwork, and a willingness to challenge themselves and try something new.

The selection process reflected the very best of Scouting, encouraging young people to grow in confidence, support one another, and step beyond their comfort zones. Leaders involved praised all participants for their enthusiasm, positivity, and determination, highlighting the strength and potential of young people across South Ribble.

The World Scout Jamboree is a unique opportunity for young people to build lifelong friendships, experience new cultures, and deepen their understanding of what it means to be part of a global community. The 2027 event will be held in the vibrant, historic city of Gdańsk, bringing together Scouts from nearly every country in the world.

With the theme “Bravely”, the Jamboree will inspire young people to speak up, take action, and shape a better future, empowering them to grow in confidence, resilience, and self-belief as they take their place in the world.

For the selected South Ribble Scouts, this is just the beginning of their journey. Over the next 18 months, they will take part in training camps, team-building activities, and fundraising events as they prepare for life on an international campsite and the adventure ahead.

Stuart Robinson, District Lead Volunteer, said: “We are incredibly proud of Olly, Jack, Ben, Thomas and Nathaniel. Being selected for the World Scout Jamboree is a fantastic achievement and reflects their commitment, enthusiasm, and the values of Scouting. They will be brilliant ambassadors for South Ribble and the UK.”

Dwayne Fields, UK Chief Scout, added: “Congratulations to all the young people selected for the World Scout Jamboree 2027. This is a truly life-changing experience, bringing together young people from across the world to learn from each other, share cultures, and build friendships that last a lifetime. Opportunities like this help young people grow in confidence and develop the skills they need to make a positive difference in the world.”

Ben, a selected young person, said: “I’m really excited to meet Scouts from around the world, try something completely new, and represent South Ribble. It’s an opportunity I’ll never forget.”

The journey to the World Scout Jamboree is about much more than the event itself; it’s about building confidence, independence, and the skills young people need for life.

Local volunteers and the broader community have expressed their pride in the group, acknowledging the commitment and determination required to reach this milestone. With the support of volunteers, families, and the community, these young individuals are ready to embark on an unforgettable journey.
