Empower Young People and Volunteers: Help Power the Future of Scouting in South Ribble

Date: 1st Feb 2026 Author: Jon Nutten

Join Our Grants & Fundraising Team

Behind every great Scout adventure is a group of people who make it possible — and we’re looking for more volunteers to join that team.

South Ribble District Scouts is growing, ambitious, and excited about what’s ahead. With bold plans for 2026 and beyond, we’re now looking for Grants & Fundraising Team Members and a Grants & Fundraising Team Lead to join our District Support Team, led by Jon Nutten (Support Team Leader).

This is your chance to play a vital role in enabling more young people to experience adventure, helping volunteers thrive, and ensuring Scouting across South Ribble has the tools it needs to deliver Skills for Life.

Why This Matters

Funding doesn’t just support activities — it unlocks opportunity.

From upgrading equipment and facilities to supporting events, growth projects, and new sections, effective fundraising and grant support allow us to:

  • Enable bigger, better adventures
  • Equip volunteers with the resources they need
  • Support the growth of sections like Squirrels
  • Reach more young people across our communities
  • Turn great ideas into real, impactful experiences

With exciting plans already forming for the next few years, this team will be central to helping South Ribble Scouts go further and do more.

About the Roles

Grants & Fundraising Team Lead

As Team Lead, you’ll help shape the vision for fundraising across the District, coordinate activity, and support a small team of volunteers to succeed. You’ll work closely with Jon and the wider Support Team to identify opportunities, prioritise projects, and make a real, visible impact.

Grants & Fundraising Team Members

As part of the team, you’ll help research grants, support applications, contribute ideas, and assist with fundraising initiatives that benefit young people and volunteers locally.

You don’t need to be a funding expert — just enthusiastic, organised, and keen to make a difference. Whether you bring professional experience or want to learn something new, there’s a place for you.

Who We’re Looking For

We’re looking for people who:

  • Believe in the power of Scouting
  • Enjoy working as part of a team
  • Like turning ideas into action
  • Want to make a lasting difference locally

These roles are flexible, supportive, and designed to fit around other commitments — with plenty of guidance, shared learning, and Scouts UK resources to help you succeed.

Be Part of Something Bigger

Volunteering with South Ribble Scouts means helping young people gain confidence, resilience, and life skills — often without ever stepping foot on a campsite.

If you want to help enable more adventuressupport more volunteers, and shape the future of Scouting in South Ribble, we’d love to hear from you.
