Adult Volunteers (18+)

Volunteers in Scouting help thousands of young people to achieve their best. They help them to make new friends, learn new skills and become good citizens for the future. And in the process, they have fun too!

To join us you just need to have the willingness to help young people. We are open to all ages, genders, races and backgrounds. We need people like you to help us on this journey, whatever your skill level. If you can make a cup of tea, take photographs, drive a minibus, or just help tidy-up, we can find a job for you.

You can offer as much to as little time as you like. Each Scout meeting is different to the lats and requires different skills, so let us know if you would like to give it a try.
It’s fun and gives you a great sense of achievement too.

Scouting needs adults to run effectively for young people.

Do you have a skill to offer? Or do you just fancy a challenge or an opportunity? Leaders also have FUN and get involved in areas they ever thought they could engage in.

There are a range of tasks that Leaders do from keeping records of what the young people have achieved to leading camps in remote hilly areas. It’s your choice what you do, when you do, and how you do, within a trained and safe environment.

We have a full training programme for running youth meetings, running camps, undertaking and leading adventurous activities and travelling abroad with the young people.

Working with an age group to suit you, from age 6 to 25, could give you the experience of a lifetime. Voluntary work can be an addition to your CV too. In each section we need adults to run meetings, plan programmes and keep records of attendance and finance.

Does this sound like something you could help us with? Visit our Join page to volunteer!

HM King Charles III has been confirmed as our new Patron, a great honour for UK Scouts.

The King continues a long tradition of the monarch giving their Patronage, dating back to 1912. This was when Scouts was granted its Royal Charter and HM George V became our first Patron.
