Volunteer Vacancy: District Financial Administrator

Outline: This role will provide support to the District Treasurer, the District Board of Trustees and the District Account Holders, in accordance with the Policy, Organisation and Rules of The Scout Association. 

Managed by: The District Treasurer 

Responsible to: South Ribble District Scout Council 

Appointment requirements: Must successfully complete the appointment process (including acceptable personal enquiries and acceptance of The Scout Association’s policies). It’s expected that whilst volunteering for this role you will undertake regulated activity. 

 The Responsibilities of the Treasurer: 

  • Provide administrative support to the financial activities of the District Account Holders  
  • Present financial reports for the Board of trustees as directed by the District treasurer 
  • Ensuring that all financial activities are in accordance with legal regulations. 
  • Ensuring that the district’s financial records are up-to-date, and comprehensive. 
  • Aid in the preparation of the Annual Statement of Accounts for independent examination and approval by the Board of trustees in time for the Annual General Meeting. 
  • Membership and attendance of any finance working groups or sub-Committees as agreed with the Board of Trustees 

 Additional Responsibilities: 

  • Contribute to the strategic aims and future development of the District in line with the District Strategic Plan. 
  • Willingness to complete various tasks which support the work of the Executive Committee and aims of South Ribble District Scouts. 
  • Have an awareness of modern financial tools and banking systems to improve our financial management across the District. Supporting the Groups/District Sections in effective management of local finances.  

 Skills for a Financial Administrator: 

  • Strong organisational skills. 
  • Strong communication skills. 
  • Ability to work as part of a team. 
  • Previous experience of financial recording. 
  • Good IT skills.
