VE Day Tea Party
Friday 8th May was to be a day of celebration, with us coming together having street parties. Once again we had to adapt to a new normal and we held a district event like no other. We brought the district together even though we were so far apart to celebrate the end of the war in Europe.
It was an absolutely amazing day with so many Beavers, Cubs, Scouts, Explorers, Network, Leaders, Parents and even neighbours participating in such a wide range of activities throughout the celebration. Planning, baking, making, decorating, but most of all laughter, smiles, fun and friendship and many skills for life were achieved during this party. We joined in with the national 2-minute silence at 11am, listened to Winston Churchill at 3pm, and came together in solidarity when we renewed our promises together at 6 pm. We were able to reflect on the amazing work of scouting at home with a wonderful slideshow of photos that accompanied “Until we meet again”. We will meet again, don’t know where and don’t know when, but we will.
