Recap: The Big Weekend 2022 (Waddecar) – Our Biggest District Event

Date: 28th Mar 2022 Author: Jon Nutten

Over 900 Squirrels, Beavers, Cubs, Scouts and Explorer Scouts aged between 4 and 18 will descend on Waddecar Scout Activity Cente near Preston for The Big Weekend during the 5th to the 6th March, the event is the biggest of its kind in the West Lancashire following the Pandemic.

We’ve all felt a little trapped on the sofa this past 18 months, bored of the telly, and we all feel a little sluggish after all those zoom meetings, and the over-indulgence and board games.

It was the challenge our young people need to switch back on for the year a head with participants enjoyed awesome activities throughout the weekend: from archery to abseiling, Inflatables to high-ropes, and so much more… Including plenty of entertainment, crafts, socials, and friendship. The most important part of all… Seeing young people and our volunteers back together having fun and seeing those huge smiles and laughter as they tried new things throughout the weekend!
