It’s been just under 6 months since I sat down and shared my thoughts of 2020 and the excitement for 2021. We have all been very busy these last few months and it is great to see a real buzz around the District as young people are enjoying the return of face-to-face Scouting, though socially distanced, and restrictions in place. It is a real credit to our volunteers who have stayed engaged, supporting the young people, and collectively shown great resilience.
A few great examples of this are the fantastic programmes being run by 2nd Leyland, 5th Penwortham, others, and Stanhope ESU, who adapted and over the May Bank Holiday set out to complete their Silver DofE Expeditions.
The last few months, I have been busy in the background sorting branding, recruitment, completing my own training (Virtually, which is great for me and if you need to… It is well worth getting involved, you can find out more here) and created a series of workshops to support our volunteers and groups.
The interactive workshops support our members in the why’s and how’s of using social media, exploring our brand, and how we speak. Each week in June 2021, we will focus on a different area, by the end of the session you will have had an opportunity to explore and brush up your knowledge on branding, how we speak, and social media.
As it closes in on 12 months in my role, I am keen to get out there and meet fellow volunteers, share stories, and help support more young people, volunteers and engage more with our local community.
We offer skills for life, create better communities, and hope! If you need any help, assistance with your communications, or just a general chat. Feel free to reach out at any time!
